Comprehensive Eye Examinations
Routine eye examinations are important.  Diabetes and glaucoma can be detected during comprehensive eye exams.  Recent statistics show that two-thirds of us will eventually develop cataracts and one in 33 will suffer from glaucoma, a disease that usually has no symptoms.  Our examinations include visual acuities, blood pressure, color vision testing, depth perception testing, muscle balance testing, testing for glaucoma and cataracts and other ocular diseases, and determination of your prescription.  We recommend dilating your eyes for the most accurate assessment of your eyes' health.

Contact Lenses
You get the right fit in contact lenses... If you have astigmatism or a bifocal it may be difficult to find lenses.  But not at Coley and Coley.  We carry many brands of disposables, daily wear and gas-permeable lenses from the major contact lens manufacturers.  Not only do we have the best selection and service for contact lens wearers, you can often have your contacts the same day.  We utilize the corneal topographer which maps the entire surface of the cornea for an exceptional fit.

Retinal Imaging
Our office is pleased to provide state-of-the-art retinal imaging.  With this technology, the flash used to acquire the image is only 1/10th the brightness of the polaroid system.  We can now store images on our computer system and the doctors can review your photos with you during your examination.

Retinal Imaging

Visual Fields
Our office is equipped with a visual fields analyzer.  This tests the functioning of the retina, optic nerve and the optic pathways from the eye to the brain.  It helps detect conditions such as glaucoma, tumors, and retinitis pigmentosa.

OCT
HD-OCT image is a high-definition cross sectional view that reveals subtle details of the pathology. Stratus OCT is the first and only instrument that can "see" below the surface of the retina to examine the retinal layers. The breakthrough images of Stratus OCT provide detailed, x-ray-like images of the structures affected by glaucoma and other abnormalities of the retina, including detached retina, macular holes, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and more. The OCT never touches the eye, so there's no discomfort. It is also sale and requires only minutes to scan the eye.

Refractive Surgery
By now you've probably heard about Laser Vision Correction, the procedure to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism.  Our job is to provide accurate information such as your pre-operative prescription, the shape of your cornea, the desired post-operative prescription as well as some other findings.  As your eye doctors and doctors very experienced in measuring vision, we are in a unique position to provide this segment of your laser care.  Therefore, we will be performing the pre-and-post-operative segments of your procedure.

The intra-operative part of the procedure will be Dr. Daniel Bregman at Eye Health Partners or Dr. Ming Wang at Wang Vision Institute. Unlike some doctors who have literally taken weekend training courses, these doctors have been doing corneal procedures for years. Call our office today to speak to one our refractive surgery consultants. You can also learn more about this procedure by visiting these websites: www.eyehealthpartners.com and www.wangvisioninstitute.com.

Dry Eye Relief
If you have been using artificial tears with little success, you may have chronic dry eye due to decreased tear production. Dry eye is a condition that affects one fourth of Americans. Many systematic and environmental conditions, as well as medications, can contribute to dry eyes.
Dry eye symptoms include:
  • A scratchy, gritty, burning feeling in your eyes
  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Excessive watering
  • Stringy mucus in your eyes
  • Increased sensitivity to light, wind, dry air, smoke or air pollution, contact lens wear or extended periods in front of a computer screen.

In some cases, a good lubricant can resolve the problem. For extremely dry eyes, a non-dissolvable punctal plug can be inserted quickly and painlessly. Since dry eyes are considered a medical condition and not a vision problem, many insurance companies may reimburse you a portion of your fees.

Restasis is the only prescription eye drop to increase tear production. It has been shown in clinical trials to help 86% of patients with dry eyes. Dr. Dr. Coley if Restasis is right for you.

 Nutrition for your eyes
New studies have proven that good nutrition is important to vision. Antioxidants such as lutein and elemental zeaxanthin help maintain the macular area and help in the prevention of macular degenerative disease while working to stabilize and retard further progression of Age-Related macular Degeneration (AMD).

Omega 3's such as fish and flaxseed oil can help in reducing dry eye and keep the retinas healthy. Dr. Coley can help determine if you are a candidate for eye supplements

How HydroEye Can Help

HydroEye works from the inside-out by delivering a proprietary blend of omega-3 and
Omega-6 fatty acids, antioxidants and other key nutrients that support proper tear secretion and a healthy tear film. Specifically, HydroEye provides an important fatty acid, GLA (gamma linolenic acid), that is difficult to obtain from the diet, GLA has been clinically found to improve dry eye symptoms and reduce ocular inflammation-an underlying cause of dry eye. HydroEye provides uninterrupted relief from dry eye discomfort with consistent use. Results are typically experienced within 30-60 days, although many experience relief sooner. www.sciencebasedhealth.com

Allergy Eye Relief
Millions of people worldwide suffer from allergy eyes, yet the condition is not often properly identified or treated. This condition is commonly overlooked because people are unaware of the various eye allergy symptoms.

It is important to identify and treat allergy eye symptoms, because:

  • They can be very uncomfortable
  • They can lead to eye damage, due to excessive scratching or rubbing.

Thus, the failure to identify the eye condition, allergy eyes, could potentially have a permanent effect on your vision.

Eye Allergies - The Primary Symptoms
There are a number of eye allergy symptoms, some of which are more prevalent then others. The most common eye allergy symptoms can emerge alone, or in combination with others. They include:

  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Tearing of the eyes (i.e., watery eyes)
  • Lid swelling
If you suffer from allergy eyes, ask Dr. Coley if prescription medications such as Pataday are right for you.

What's new in contact lenses?
Air Optix

Just because you have astigmatism doesn't mean you can't be comfortable in contact lenses. Introducing AIR OPTIX?  for Astigmatism - a breathable contact lens that offers excellent comfort and crisp, clear vision.

Air Optix Dailier

Millions of people rely on Focus? DAILIES? daily disposable contact lenses for renewed comfort each day. Now, that comfort can last throughout the day with Focus DIAILIES with AquaRelease?.
The AquaRelease moisturizing agent is released gradually as the day wear on - a little bit each time with every blink.
It's ideal for people who are new to contact lenses. Like teens who are active in sports. Or anyone, for that matter, whose glasses just seem to get in the way of their busy lifestyle.

Don't Compromise on Vision or Comfort

Remember when you had only two choices in contact lenses? "Hard" (rigid gas permeable) lenses were best for crisp, clear vision, but were often irritating and uncomfortable. Soft lenses were the most comfortable, but often provided less-than-optimal vision. Now, a technological breakthrough makes having to choose a thing of the past.

Acuvue Ciba Vision Synergeyes

The "breathable" rigid center keeps eyes healthy while providing crisp, clear vision... even at night. The outer skirt gives you the all-day comfort of a soft lens.

SynergEyes is now available in a Multifocal, for Ageless Vision Far and Near.

Who can benefit from wearing SynergEyes Contact Lenses?
  • Soft contact lens wearers who want increased clarity
  • Patients with Astigmatism who are bothered by lens rotation
  • Gas permeable or hard lens wearers who have comfort problems
  • Patients who need bifocals.
