If you own a pair of glasses, you know that keeping them in excellent condition can be hard to do. While you may take good care of your glasses, life tends to get in the way sometimes and cause harm to your specs. Because of this, we want to share with you some tips to keep your glasses looking as good as the day you purchased them. While we can’t predict future events, we can put ourselves in the best possible position to keep our glasses in tip-top shape! First, we need to make sure we store our glasses securely when we are not wearing them. A lot of frame companies offer soft-shell cases for glasses, and while they are less bulky and space efficient, they don’t provide as much protection as hard-shell cases. In addition to the casing, we need to make sure to lay our glasses with their lenses facing upward when we place them down. This way, it eliminates the possibility of the lenses getting damaged close to the surface. Second, we need to make sure we clean the lenses frequently. Most times, eyeglass cleaner and lens cloth will do the trick to remove smudges, but sometimes our glasses need a more thorough cleaning. To accomplish this, we need to rinse the lenses with lukewarm water, apply a few drops of dishwashing liquid on the outside and inside of the lenses, and then rinse. Never try to remove a spot or smudge with your finger, as it could damage the lenses. Lastly, we need to make sure to monitor how we wear our glasses. Glasses are fit for our face, so when we place them on the top of our head, it will damage the frame. Not only will this stretch out the arms, but it will also shift the lens placement in the frame, resulting in a misalignment in the frame. When this happens, the lenses aren’t positioned correctly, and can distort your view.
